APM Triplet 180mm F7 CNC Apochromat Refractor

This fine large aperture triplet apochromat provides the ultimate specification for the advanced visual observer or astro imager. At 180mm aperture this instrument will resolve fine planetary detail with no discernable colour abberation in addition to revealing high contrast deep sky views with its unobstructed optical design. At a fast focal ratio of F7 this model is suited to imaging in addition to remaining surprisingly portable, its weght is below 20kg and the transport length is just 111cm. The 180mm triplet air spaced optic at the heart of this fine instrument is hand finished by LZOS to a legendary design by Thomas Back offering the finest optical performance.


The latest CNC optical tube assembly incorporates the world famous Starlight Instruments 3.5" Feathertouch model for the ultimate in focus control for visual and imaging applications.

These tubes are made in Germany with non-compromising mechanical quality. The dew cap slides smoothly over the tube without producing any paint scratches. The focuser is a full 3.5" size and rotates smoothly and with zero image shift. This zero shift rotation is very important when your camera has already achieved its best focus and you would like to rotate it to the best position. The finder bracket has a quick exchange style screw system and is mounted on the rotatable focuser, which allows focuser rotation to bring the finder scope to the most comfortable observing position.
