APM Triplet 203mm F7 CNC Apochromat Refractor

The 203mm triplet apochromat is a formidable instrument that simply impresses at every level, from the hand finished LZOS lens to the German composite optical tube with the fine Starlight instruments focuser. With it's aperture and design this serious telescopes offers the ultimate experience for advanced visual and imaging applications. Whether viewing planets or imaging the veil nebula this instrument excells, at F7 the focal length is just 1420mm enabling fast widefield imaging and low power deep sky views that lesser designs simply cannot achieve. This latest optical design offers colour free performance at extreme apertures without resorting to slow focal ratios.

This fine apochromat cannot be described as a portable telescope and is best suited to life in an observatory but field use is certainly possible with a two person team and a suitable large mount. Due to the weight of the optical lens cell this version is supplied with specially designed magnetic weights on adjustable rails at the focuser end of the tube.

The latest CNC optical tube assembly incorporates the world famous Starlight Instruments 3.5" Feathertouch model for the ultimate in focus control for visual and imaging applications.

These tubes are made in Germany with non-compromising mechanical quality. The dew cap slides smoothly over the tube without producing any paint scratches. The focuser is a full 3.5" size and rotates smoothly and with zero image shift. This zero shift rotation is very important when your camera has already achieved its best focus and you would like to rotate it to the best position. The finder bracket has a quick exchange style screw system and is mounted on the rotatable focuser, which allows focuser rotation to bring the finder scope to the most comfortable observing position.
