It automatically selects the best objects in the sky for that particular time and location (from its database of over 30,000 celestial objects). Maksutov optical system
Serious astronomers for years have flocked to the Meade ETX for its observatory-quality Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system. Its diffraction-limited optics are so crisp in contrast, brightness and image resolution that they consistently out-perform telescopes of larger aperture. All ETX telescopes features BK-7 glass and oversized Pyrex primary mirrors.
UHTC coatings
Meade UHTC is a series of exotic optical coatings precisely tuned to optimize the optical performance of your ETX telescope. Image brightness is increased by nearly 15% over standard coatings. Objects such as stars, galaxies and nebulae as observed through your ETX will be dramatically brighter. Even observations of the Moon and planets will benefit in increased image brightness from the full spectrum of light transmission.
Automatic Alignment + SmartFinder
Meade's new ETX-Premier Edition automatically levels your telescope, points it to North and sets the time. You just enter your location or zip code. After your ETX completes its patented Level North automatic alignment procedure it will point to the first alignment star. Use the new wide-field SmartFinder to center the red dot over the alignment stars for ultra-precise pointing accuracy. It’s that easy.
