Paramount ME Equatorial Mount

The Paramount ME Robotic Telescope mounting system features a German equatorial mount with research-grade 11inch right ascension gears that provide unsurpassed tracking performance. Astronomers equipped with a Paramount ME are defining new levels of reliability, productivity and performance. Hefting up to 68 kg (150 lbs) of astronomical equipment, and designed for uninterrupted operation, the Paramount ME can be used as a remote or Internet Astronomy™ solution. Through advanced CNC construction, it is “field portable” at 29.5 kg (68 lbs). The system includes the Bisque Observatory Software Suite (TheSky6™ Professional Edition, CCDSoft™, TPoint™ with ProTrack™, Orchestrate™, and Internet Astronomy™ Software Client and Server applications) as well as the Bisque TCS™ dual-axis DC servomotor control system with USB and serial interface, and AutoHome™ start-up.

The Paramount ME is built for the digital age, featuring integrated telescope and CCD camera control, unattended start-up and automated operation, 7 arcseconds or less peak-to-peak periodic error before correction, and precision guided or unguided tracking (using TPoint and ProTrack). The result is unsurpassed image quality and observatory performance.

Tracking performance
The peak-to-peak periodic error for the right ascension gear is seven (7) arcseconds or less, before periodic error correction and without ProTrack.

Periodic error correction
The typical Paramount ME periodic error after periodic error correction is applied is one arcsecond peak-to-peak or less.

Backlash
The spring-loaded worm-to-gear interface has virtually zero backlash in both the right ascension and declination axis.

All sky pointing accuracy
In practice, you should expect to achieve repeatable, quantifiable pointing accuracies from 10 to 30 arcseconds RMS by employing TPoint for Windows Telescope Pointing Analysis software.

Autohome technology
When aligned with the celestial pole (a requirement for all German equatorial mounts), the Paramount ME can be restarted (powered off then on) with the identical pointing and tracking from session to session.

Azimuth Adjustment Design
The Paramount ME has a precision 11-inch azimuth adjustment "bearing" that makes polar alignment adjustments easy very precise, and repeatable.

Azimuth Adjustment Limits
The azimuth can be adjusted plus or minus 4 degrees.

Bearings
8.8-inch O.D., 5.9-inch I.D. right ascension bearings, 6.7-inch O.D., 4.3-inch I.D. declination bearings.

Cabling
Through-the mount wiring for mount control plus auto-guider input, parallel or serial port CCD camera control and two additional devices (dew heater, video camera, etc.). A large access hole permits the addition of custom cables through the mount.

Counterweights
Two 9 kg (20 lbs.) counterweights are provided, additional counterweights can be purchased from Software Bisque.

Versa plate
The Versa plate has a built in female dovetail and preset drilled holes for attaching a wide variety of optical tubes.
