Starlight Instruments Desiccant Dust Cap 2"

This premium end cap for telescopes with 2" focusers was designed to replace the standard caps included with most telescopes. The beautifully machined aluminium cap has the additional benefit of keeping your equipment dry with the desiccant included inside the cap that absorbs moisture away from your valuable optics. The cap is 2" so it will fit into any 2" accessory or eyepiece opening. It can be argued that the single most important 'accessory' for a telescope is its dust cap. Important for both the front and rear of the telescope, dust caps prevent debris and other air-borne particles from polluting the front objective or corrector and the inside of the optical tube when the telescope is not in use.


While it is true that front objective can be cleaned relatively easily if dust gets inside the optical tube, that is an entirely different matter.

Most telescope manufacturers provide an unattractive -- somewhat flimsy, often plastic - cap for the back (eyepiece-end) of the their telescopes, regardless of the price of the telescope. Now you can protect your expensive equipment in style. This cap is especially useful to owners of observatory instruments where left unattended for long periods damp could cause issues with valuable optics.

The 'plug' portion of our premium dust cap hollowed-out to hold moisture absorbing desiccant. The top portion of the cap screws on snugly, with an O-ring, to insure that the desiccant wont be wasted on outside air and moisture, but will instead, draw the moisture from the inside of your telescope through the breathing holes machined into the bottom of the plug.
