Discover our Solar System and beyond with the Celestron AstroMaster Maksutov 127EQ. This telescope is designed for detailed, high contrast views, setting a new standard in beginner telescopes. With its Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope tube and sturdy AstroMaster equatorial mount and tripod, this kit provides stunning views of the planets and the lunar surface, including craters and maria.Setting up the telescope is a breeze. Even on your first time out, you can assemble the telescope and its accessories in just a few minutes. The adjustable tripod legs allow you to customize the telescope's height or place it on raised surfaces like a picnic table. An included accessory tray will help you keep track of eyepieces and other small items while observing.Day-to-Night Performance Great for observing celestial objects at night and birds, nature, and wildlife during the day with the included fully corrected diagonal.Maksutov-Cassegrain Optical DesignThe Maksutov-Cassegrain (MAK) is a catadioptric telescope, which means the optical design includes both a lens and a mirror. The light coming through a MAK passes through the corrector lens to the primary mirror and back to a spherical secondary mirror before it hits the eyepiece. Images are bright, sharp, and virtually free of chromatic aberration. The Maksutov-Cassegrain's optical design offers several unique benefits. Instead of a secondary mirror, the MAK features a "secondary spot" of reflective coating applied directly to the inside of the corrector plate. Because of this, the telescope does not require frequent collimation like a Schmidt-Cassegrain. Also, the secondary spot is significantly smaller than a traditional Schmidt-Cassegrain secondary mirror, giving the MAK its signature high-contrast views.Manual German Equatorial telescopeThe AstroMaster mount comes with two slow motion control knobs so you can make fine pointing adjustments in both Right Ascension and Declination axes, to locate and track objects as they appear to drift across the night sky.Accessories IncludedThe Celestron AstroMaster includes two eyepieces (20mm and 10mm), an erect image diagonal, and a StarPointer red dot finderscope. The two eyepieces offer different magnifications so you can view your subject at lower or higher power. StarPointer red dot finderscope will help you locate objects and quickly center them in your telescope's eyepiece. If you prefer to let your telescope do the work for you, consider adding a motor drive to your setup (see related accessories). Once you've centered an object in the eyepiece, the motor drive will continuously track it so you do not need to make manual adjustments to follow the target across the sky.Starry Night SoftwareDownload Celestron's Starry Night Software and learn about the night sky, celestial objects, and how to plan your next observing session. Celestron Starry Night Software is the premier astronomy software package on the market, providing detailed information, plus tips and tricks for viewing our Solar System and beyond.
Well-built and useful beginners telescope. I have been out of astronomy for a few years and now find myself in a position to do a bit of general observing, but needed a compact scope with moderate power. I haven't got room for a C14! Although I am still getting this to where I want it, I am finding the scope very good. (18/02/2024) Johnny Lincoln - N. Lincs, UK
