Product Description

A red torch is one of the most beneficial accessories you can own as an amateur astronomer, no matter how occasional your night sky observations may be. Also, if you plan to observe with other people, whether at a star party or in your own neighbourhood, a red torch is an important part of good star party etiquette.

When you are outside doing astronomy, or any night-time activity that requires you to see as well as possible, any white light is a detriment. Every time you use white light, your eyes react. The pupils contract, making their aperture smaller, and a smaller aperture always means less light-gathering, whether we are talking about your eyes or your optical equipment.

A red flashlight allows you to see your star charts, find an eyepiece in your accessory case, or pick your way over telescope cables and other obstacles without affecting your night vision. The better your night vision, the more you can see in the eyepiece.

The Celestron Night Vision Flashlight uses two LED’s to provide variable red illumination. Use the thumb wheel to adjust the light as you need it. The square shape of the flashlight keeps it from rolling off of your observing table to the ground. A lanyard is attached so you can wear it around your neck. The Night Vision Flashlight is powered by a 9V battery (included).

Celestron Red LED Flashlight features
Keep your night vision intact by using a red flashlight when observing!
The Night Vision Flashlight uses two red LED’s for even illumination.
An easy-to-use thumbwheel adjusts the brightness.
Square shape keeps the Night Vision Flashlight from rolling away.
Powered by an included 9V battery.

10/10    Excellent service Not used yet as it’s a present  (17/11/2024) -

8/10  Useful torch  Nice little torch, just what I need for reading star charts outside. Prompt delivery.  (09/10/2022) -

8/10  Great but actually quite bright   Great for kids who always insist on using a torch - stops them doing too much damage to your night vision. But even the dimmest setting is still quite bright so a few layers of tape to add (or remove an led). The clear front piece isn’t well attached and got lost but still works.  (19/08/2022) Mike - S London

10/10  Excellent service  Not used torch at night yet but seems to be just what I needed. Service was excellent, with next day delivery as promised.  (22/08/2020) -

10/10  Great torch  This is the second torch I have purchased from Harrison's, the first for myself, I was very pleased with its quality so purchased a second as a gift, I am very new to astronomy but already considering buying a dobsonian telescope in the new year,   (20/12/2019) Ron cox - Great yarmouth

10/10  Great torch  Great little torch, good brightness control, like the use of a lanyard   (06/12/2019) Ron cox - Great yarmouth

8/10  Unlucky with first one?  First one only worked a couple of times before failure. Item was replaced with no quibble and so far the replacement is working fine. The two led’s are more than adequate for checking reference notes etc. The adjustment for brightness is a useful feature. Only 4 stars due to failure of first item.   (26/02/2019) Colin - Leicestershire

10/10  celestron led flashlight  this is a very good torch red light does not effect your night vision. The light is adjustable to suite your night vision needs, excellent product. Dave Mole.   (24/11/2018) David Mole - Wirral Merseyside.

10/10  as described  does the job   (24/11/2017) -

8/10  Good for close work  This Celestron red torch is highly adjustable in output, enabling you to use the minimum light you need to safely illuminate your very near surroundings without affecting your night vision - or affecting others nearby. Don't however, expect to use it to illuminate a path for walking.   (11/08/2017) William O'Brien - Guildford
