Whether your interest is Deep-Sky, the Moon and Planets, Astro imaging or a combination of all, the Explorer 200p offers excellent all round Diffraction Limited optical performance. Fully upgradable with drive systems and goto options making this a future proofed investment. The Polarscope is included on the EQ5 mount as standard from SkyWatcher, we have noticed some sellers offering this as an option they charge extra for!A complete packageEverything you need is in this comprehensive large aperture equatorial telescope package:TelescopeRings and dovetailMountPolar scope includedTripodFinderTwo eyepiecesBarlow lensRadiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ) Mirror CoatingPrimary mirror and secondary mirror with Radiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ) coating providing up to 94% reflectivity with optimal durability and long term performance.
This award winning large aperture high quality Telescope will provide stunning views of Solar system objects along with Galaxies, Nebulae and clusters and is supplied on the superb and stable EQ5 equatorial mount.Telescopes in this aperture are regarded as serious instruments and significantly outperform smaller models and are for most the ultimate Telescope for use at home but still portable enough for field use.Direct SLR Camera Connection - A T thread on the focuser allows you to attach your DSLR Camera with a T-Ring, we stock a range of Canon, Nikon & Sony T-RingsBBC Sky at Night Magazine group test winner scoring 93%Radiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ) Mirror CoatingPrimary mirror and secondary mirror with Radiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ) coating providing up to 94% reflectivity with optimal durability and long term performance. All Sky-Watcher f/5 ('fast') Newtonian Reflectors and Dobsonian models feature High Quality Parabolic Primary Mirrors to eliminate spherical aberrations inherent in 'fast' focal length reflectors with spherical primary mirrors. The mirrors are parabolized to bring all the light rays to the same focal point to give sharp, constrasty images, which are full of detail. The very sturdy EQ5 Equatorial mount provides excellent precision and stability and a host of other useful features for the serious astronomer. The mount rests firmly on a large, adjustable stainless steel pipe tripod with accessory tray. Supplied complete with a bubble level, latitude adjuster with micrometer scale and an azimuth polar-alignment adjuster. It also features engraved aluminium setting circles and manual slow motion tracking controls. UpgradeableThe EQ5 mount is the ideal platform with it's high weight capacity and stability but it can also be upgraded easily from the standard version. Motor drives for tracking and centering objects precisely can be added as well as the very populat SynScan goto upgrade kit for fully computerised object location and tracking. Easy to set-up and operate, stunning views Hi, wonderful telescope, easy to set up (although the instructions don't quite match) and operate. Take a quiet day to read through the guides carefully - lots of useful information. Saw Jupiter's spot and layers, and looking forward to galaxies. The moon was breathtaking - my 11 year old gasped! Impressed Never looked through a telescope in my life but always wanted to.Browsing online curiosity overtook me and after a day on YouTube I decided to take the plunge. Orderd this at 10.30am on the Monday snd it arrived 8.30am next morning that's under 24 hours delivery well impressive. Polar scope included (13/11/2022) Steve - Snowdonia
Excellent and robust Delivery was very quick and was well packaged. Simple to set up, great views of planets and moon using correct eyepiece. EQ5 mount is secure and has a convenient small bubble level. Polar scope built in which is also very good. Looking forward to seeing and photographing more with this telescope! (21/08/2022) Tim - West Sussex
Excellent service We ordered the item and it arrived very promptly. Good price, good service. (The only little blip was that apparently our older Apple Mac was not compatible with the the current system when it came to sorting the payment) (04/06/2021) -
very good Delivered next day even in lock down impressed. Price including polar scope cheaper than anywhere else . (27/06/2020) Geoff N - Herefordshire
Good value for money This is a marked improvement over the budget Newtonian I had as a teenager. The tripod is robust and steady, though it doesn't match the picture in the instructions (which are not that good). The telescope needed collimating. The setting circles on the mount are not that useful. (24/04/2020) Michael Stevens - SurreyOur Reply: Thank you - yes the manuals have not updated as fast as the instrument has evolved, all Newtonians will require routine collimation as part of normal maintenance especially after shipping and assembly. Setting circles need to be huge to be accurate but they still provide them albeit small to remain a practical size on the mounts on all makes of German equatorials in recent years.
First telescope Extremely quick delivery. Well packaged with all items included. Reasonably straight forward assembly (this is my first proper telescope). Very robust tripod. Have used a couple of times when weather suitable. Pleased with purchase. (02/03/2020) -
Initial setup and calibration of new unit The OTA and EQ5 mount was received safely packed & free from visible defects. All items listed in the contents page were checked. Assembly of the mount was easily achieved, following the instructions included. Collimation of the OTA was hindered by an overtightened 2nd mirror centre-screw. First telescope 5 star This is my first telescope. Arrived faster than I expected, especially close to Christmas. The telescope comes with EQ5 mount, very heavier and sturdy. Unfortunately haven't got a chance to look at the sky due to the bad weather. (14/12/2018) Leo - Plymouth
Very pleased A mostly well constructed telescope. The EQ5 mount appears to have changed design but is very substantial and has a neat polar sighting scope built in, though main bolt could do with a few more threads engaging.A simple mod. Very pleased with results so far. Laser collimator made setting up simple. (03/12/2018) David - Devon
Excellent Scope This is an impressive scope and mount. The eyepieces are basic and worth upgrading. And i would suggest a collimator I used the Cheshire but found it easier with the lazer which worked great. It did take a while to collimate but once i did it the rewards were amazing. Amazing telescope & Sturdy EQ5 (09/02/2018) Martin - Yorkshire
Excellent scope Excellent service from Harrison. The scope is exactly as advertised. Very well packaged with excellent build quality. The mount is perfect for this size scope but may struggle if you wish to move into imagining. The eyepieces do their job well enough but you'll want to upgrade them after awhile. (27/06/2017) Gary Hill - London
Impressive piece of kit Researched a lot before this purchase and am very impressed with the outcome, it is a sight to behold when up and gives stunning views. Key point for me was the ability to upgrade to GOTO later on. (02/06/2017) Aaron - Leicester
Great choice Having now used the scope here in rural Dorset, I am delighted; observing the Cassiopeia region was a revelation – the M52 open cluster was absolutely stunning. The light gulping capacity of this scope will definitely out weigh the benefits of a smaller mirrored motorised systems at the same price. (23/03/2017) Kevin Davis - North Dorset
impressive telescope Really pleased with this choice of telescope. Nice focusser and solid sturdy mounting. Viewing the Orion nebula literally amazed. I bought the eyepiece set offer to which was half price so a great deal overall. (19/12/2015) Paul "astro" - Burnham on Sea
