The 1.25” laser collimator comes complete with a removable 2” adaptor, for use in all sizes of focuser designed to center accurately. Designed for the accurate collimation of Newtonian Reflectors, Dobsonians and Refractors.

Be aware of the following as you use your Laser Collimator:

Only turn on your laser when you are going to use it. All lasers use up battery power very quickly and have short battery life.

Note the small "doughnut" or centre spot attached to your telescope's primary mirror, most have these. The doughnut is attached to help you perform alignment with the Laser Collimator.

Simple to use for fast accurate collimation
Essentially you need to first adjust the secondary mirror to get the red dot in the centre of your primary mirror, then adjust your primary mirror to return the red dot to the centre of the lasers viewing window.

  Quality item, but needs collimating  This has made such a huge difference. I used to use a Cheshire but this is much better! Now the high power (200x) views of Jupiter and Mars are much sharper on my XT8 dobsonian. However I had to collimate the laser itself which is difficult since the screws are sealed in black rubber.  (04/02/2023) Lawrence -

  Clever Stuff  Totally new to astronomy and reading about collimation was daunting. Bought this along with a Cheshire type and to be honest it really is a necessary tool.   As expected  Ordered this device to backup a Cheshire I already own. Laser needed the obligatory collimation as expected, no big deal but worse was digging out the seals from the screw heads, but once done never need do it again.   Very useful, and straightforward to use  I bough this along with a Newtonian reflector. The instructions aren't very clear, but it's a doddle to use. Insert it in the eyepiece holder so you can see the slanting white face while you can reach the adjustment knobs. Switch it on and twiddle the knobs until the beam disappears back down centre  (18/04/2020) Michael - Surrey

  Excellent and time saving  I tried using a Cheshire and with glasses and a long telescope with a primary mirror i couldnt quite reach i decided to give up and get the laser.   Definitely a 'must have' item  This makes the job of collimating your reflector telescope as easy as 1-2-3, just slot it into the eyepiece holder and follow the instructions.
