Great package for first look into astrophotography I selected this package to go with the EQ3 Pro mount. The scope is beautifully made with one small exception – the finder scope bracket isn’t a great fit in the main tube dovetail. A bit of perseverance obtained a satisfactory alignment. I am a novice star gazer so to be fair my expectations were very high between the telescope I have and the evostar. The evostar is well engineered and looks the part and gives crystal clear images of Jupiter's moon's but I struggled to see the detail of the weather patterns on the planet itself. (23/10/2022) -
Reviewing the Skywatcher 80 ED DS PRO Optical Tube I recently received my SkyWatcher Evostar 80 ED DS PRO Refractor Optical Tube Assembly from `Harrison Telescope’. I open the bespoke case for this telescope and what a package deal! Optical tube, viewfinder, diagonal along with an eyepiece. I`m absolutely blown away. The optical tube is an absolute beauty, Great feather focuser with zero backlash, due shield is a generous length to help minimise high levels of due across these great optics…this will I hope save me money on having to bye a due heater. Finally, I tried my new 80mm on Jupiter parallel to my TMB 80mm f7(the acid test in term of performance). The performance between both instruments was very, very surprising! The TMB on Jupiter as I expected offered just that little bit more intensity of colour and contrast, “but in reality, it was negligible against the Skywatcher 80 ED DS Pro”. I cannot believe how far `OVL’ have developed the performance of these optics, it`s incredible. I can truly say anybody looking for an 80mm that offer brilliant value for Money and packs a punch…. then this little lady delivers. Thankyou Ed for your support and advice, I’m really happy mate.
